Course Overview

The Course Creator: Earl
Hi. My name is Earl. I'm a writer and director from Detroit, MI. I have created several music videos, short and feature films and collaborated with artists who've been featured on networks such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Comedy Central and Tubi. As a young man growing up in Detroit, MI I noticed our MLK street didn't reflect the world-changing leader I learned about in school. The reality of MLK BLVD didn't match the legacy of Dr. King.
It's a common perception in the Black community that MLK BLVDs are usually in "the hood" but we often don't talk about the reasons why. With this course, we get an understanding of the history along MLK BLVD but also are charged with forging a better future. What are you waiting for? Let's get started!
The Course Designer: Aaron
Hi, my name is Aaron David Harris. I make animated films, audio dramas, and interactive projects. My projects have been selected for several Oscar-qualifying film festivals including Slamdance, HollyShorts, and the Nashville Film Festival.
Prior to my career in filmmaking, I spent over ten years as a college professor and instructional designer at several colleges and universities across the country including Nova Southeastern University, Miami Dade College, Broward College, Medaille College, The University at Buffalo, and Cuyahoga Community College.
Earl and I have known each other for over 30 years, going back to our days as kids in Detroit, attending church and talking about the cartoons we enjoyed. It is a blessing to lend my skills to help honor the legacy of Dr. King.
